Suliman Al Salem KSA, b. 1993
Suliman Al Salem (b. 1993, Mecca) is a Saudi artist based in Riyadh. Al Salem's work explores the complex subject of the “state of being.” It specifically relates to the motivations and circumstances that influence human feeling and behaviour through interaction with themes such as state, feeling, memes and space. “My work is about re-presenting reality in different ways, seeking to explore some of the many facets of truth.”
A key aspect of his approach is the use of loop video, allowing him to record and perpetuate these ephemeral states. He also works with multiple materials, such as Video, sand, lenticular printing, and language.
Since 2016, Al Salem has been working as an artist assistant at Nasser Al Salem Studio. Al Salem has made his debut Solo in 2020 with an independent exhibition in Jeddah entitled “the state of being”.
