Rashed AlAraifi's A Peninsula’s Native Thesis 3, 2022, is part of larger body of works that explore native flora and fauna within the wider Arab region, through mark-making and colour, echoing a visual narrative of pictographic forms as they orbit throughout the surface of the canvas.
The series explores the visual intersections and geometric interplays which form the native flora and fauna of the arabian peninsula- visually narrated through symbols, mark-making, and colour-blocking. As these pictograms orbit throughout the surface of the canvas, they sit in harmony to create pictographic dialogues that position themselves between figuration and abstraction.
