Represented by Abu Dhabi-based gallery Iris Projects, the Saudi artist Abdullah Al Othman is set to show his new, site-specific installation “Manifesto: The Language & The City.” Exploring architectural language, this eye-catching and large installation will be made of LED, neon lighting, light boxes, and signage, inspired by the streets of his hometown, Riyadh, of which he aims to recreate the city’s street signs. “I do believe that a city absorbs its identity from the language of its residents,” Al Othman wrote on his Instagram account. “Their words define the names and component parts of its landscapes, and by this process, a site becomes an identity, a narrative, and a biographical backdrop for each inhabitant.”
