Fractured Existence: Sikka Art Festival, Dubai
Iris Art Advisory presents Fractured Existence at the Sikka Art Festival, showcasing four Emirati artists who explore the nature of existence. They question physical reality, transcendence, materialism, and its relation to idealism.
Asha Juma's art reflects her passion for spiritual search and the true meaning of being. She uses a variety of materials in her works, combining simplicity and complexity from one piece to the next.
Juma Al Haj's work redefines the role of language outside of its functional use. It draws from spiritual experiences and can be interpreted as a transcendence towards nostalgia or a personal spiritual experience. Al Haj dissolves the literal structure of text, decontextualizing language, and pushing it into total abstraction.
Talal Al Najjar's sculptural series resembles anatomical forms, like bones, flesh, organs, and other organic and synthetic materials. It serves as an allegory of existence and physical reality.
Whereas, Ziad Al Najjar explores patterns found in nature and those created by humans. He focuses on historical and contemporary applications of marks and motifs in textiles, encouraging viewers to intensify their perception. His art offers a unique way to observe the present and occurrences in life.
