Unwritten, Unspoken & Told : Dubai Calligraphy Biennale

Overview

Curated by Shaikh Maktoum Al Maktoum Unwritten, Unspoken & Told  (2023) explores the interplay between language and human existence through fresh and cutting-edge expressions of contemporary art from both local and international artists. The exhibition is a central feature of the inaugural Dubai Calligraphy Biennale, presented by Dubai Culture under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai.

 

The exhibition includes Juma Al Haj's Loose Leaves: An Ode to Loyalty (2021-2023)  as well as Shamsa Al Omaira's Cry Pattern (2021).

 

Other exibited artists include Mohamed Ahmed Ibrahim, Yazan Khalili, Ruqaya Al Hashimi, Dima Abou Zannad, Mays Albeik, Alia Hussain Lootah, Toufic Beyhum, Majd Alloush, Ana Escobar, Alla Abdunabi, Adrian Pepe, Taqwah Al Naqbi, Rawdha Al Ketbi, Eman Al Hashemi, Shamma Al Amri, Said Mhaisen, and Ammar Al Attar.
